BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear

This debut collection integrated femininity and masculinity with soft gentle colour palette embellished by heavy metal works. I drew inspiration from the industrial revolution of Great Britain in Victoria era. In human history the industrial revolution made major changes and in almost every aspect, they influenced our daily life now. New technologies were continuously been invented during that period. These novel creations gradually affecting our natural atmosphere, technologies brought inestimable efforts to the country. Therefore the economy sharply grown, people started to think distinctly, eventually we abandoned numerous manually processes of production, superseded by machinery. In the other hand the industrial revolution was notorious for environmental pollutions and many other negative socially facts. I pay particular attention to these negativities such as air pollution and child labour. Ameliorating into new innovation, my aim is to rethink and reinvent by advocate sustainable approach into my works. Since this revolution is always a symbolisation of new innovation and prosperous economy phenomenon, I wish people who wear my collection would think positively and vigorously in this economic recession period. Each of the 8 outfits invokes a meaning of above. The collection balances recycling materials with a fashion forward sensibility in a luxury finishing touch. In my collection I have used a lot nails that you can pick up on the street. The Metals all hand beaded onto the garments along with safety pins. There are some small details like buttons are also remade from wastes. Therefore garments from the collection are aesthetically attractive, highly finished whilst creative and breaking the boundaries of sustainable fashion. The fabrics sourcing and metal works enhance the elegance and edginess of the silhouettes with luxury and blush and playful colors. From the collection I try to experience more contrast of complexity and simplicity; along with mix-up of masculine and feminine elements.
