BA (Hons) Fashion Design and Development
The collection is inspired by the smooth curves and linear elements of 60âs furniture, smooth shiny wooden panels that sit next to upholstered bright hues in coarse Meltons. Concrete poured buildings with rounded edges, curved openings & material contrasts. The collection plays with proportion & texture contrasts. Opposing textures sit alongside each other, a shiny patent leather tops a fluffy angora, a juxtaposition that emphasises both textures. Heritage fabrics are central to the design concept. She aims to create wearable fashion that is relevant to women today. Colour plays a key part in all her work, taking prominence in both her garments and her editorial work. City College, Brighton 2000-2007 A levels - Art (A) English (B) Philosophy (C) 9 GCSEâs (A*-C) Work placement at Net-A-Porter, The Outnet Work placement at Net-a-porter, The Outnet Intern to the Product Merchandising team 2nd May 2011- 29th July 2011 â¢Researching trends for weekly email promotions of the Outnet. â¢Merchandising the garments and accessories on the website. â¢Responsible for the âDress Meâ section of the website, which involves selecting garments options for different events and considering different consumers. â¢Responding to directions and briefs to create different custom lists. â¢Selecting garments, after being given a brief, to pass on to the press team that would be suitable to send out to publications after consulting the line list to access stock and sell through. Work placement at Burberry Intern to the Womenswear, Outerwear, Product development team. 26th July 2010- 26th April 2011 â¢Solely responsible for the creation of the inspiration and line list boards for the Outerwear team for 3 seasons (A11, W11 and SS12). These are used to present the new collections to the buyers, merchandisers and the CEO of Burberry. â¢Assisted the Outerwear team in the day to day running of the department, including the shipment of prototypes, assisting the fittings team, communication to external vendors and taking responsibility for the departmentâs POâs. â¢Have assisted in the Look Book shoots for three seasons. â¢Cleaning sketches in Photoshop for the Outerwear and Sportswear team. â¢Preparing and altering garments for shoots and showroom. â¢Dressed models for presentations to Burberryâs team of global buyers, where it is essential to work quickly and precisely. Design Assistant at J W Anderson, Menswear Label 19th June - 28th September 2009 â¢15 weeks summer placement working in the studio â¢Working closely with the designer and head of accessories assisting the progression of design development and styling of garments. â¢In charge of the millinery section of the S/S 10 collection, which included assisting the design work, managing a team and directing construction tasks, ensuring deadlines were met and quality control was maintained. â¢Responsibilities included, hand sewing, beadwork, pattern cutting, use of illustrator, basic construction of garments, costing and communicating with suppliers. â¢Selected to dress at their show in London Fashion week. Design assistant with Jonquin Eden, Womenâs wear August 2007 â¢One month placement in the studio. â¢Responsibilities included cutting out patterns, hand sewing, mood board assembly and accessories production.
