BA (Hons) Fashion Design and Development
Sophie Deroy is a French-American national who grew up in Vienna, Austria. There, she attended the Vienna International School before moving to London at age 19 to pursue an education in Fashion Design. Sophie completed her Bachelors in Fashion Design and Development in June 2013. During the course of her studies, she undertook multiple internships at various companies, including Marc Jacobs, Alexander McQueen & Net-a-porter.com. For her final collection, Sophie fused elements of Austrian fashion, such as the famed boiled wool garments and dirndl with references to her childhood. The majority of the pieces were made of neoprene, using a flat-seam machine for construction. The boiled wool pieces were produced in conjunction with an Austrian factory in Tirol. Sophie shot her collection on the Suffolk coast of England, along with photographer Simon Cracknell. In October 2013 Sophieâs pieces became part of a short film effort entitled Mothamorphosis, directed by LCF Masters student Poon Sap.
