My name is Eric Jifan Park and I am a final year menswear design student at London College of Fashion. I have very keen eyes for finding the ultimate futuristic line and shapes. The theme of my final year project is about the facts and conspiracy theories surrounding the Freemasonry. I was also inspired by 1920s Dutch sci-fi movie, 'Metropolis.' which gave me the idea of using monochromatic colours. My designs have several transforming functions. One garment can be transformed and styled as different clothing which are very efficient and fashion forwarding. My goal is to produce wearable, yet futuristic garments. MA Design Management for the Fashion Industries

This collection’s idea came from “Amelie from montmatre”, a French movie, which is telling the story of a girl – Amelie’s Life. It was directed by director Jean - Pierre Jeunet on 1997. This movie is very fresh on its color and concept, also it is very subconscious and naïve. It is one of my favorite movies, because it created a warm and beautiful world. There is a scene in the film, which Amelie has found a little box in the bathroom. It is a small collection of a boy who used to live in her apartment. It reminds everyone back to their own childhood. For my own childhood, I used to collect small object together into box or bottles, even a small pin. Most of time, the purpose of people who collecting things is because they want to save or build something, it may be their emotions or memories of their life. The procedure of making cloth, is quite familiar with the way of collecing things. De signers adding different elements and details into their collecting to make the basic block has more variery and possibility. Both of them is putting things together to build something. This also inspired me to develop the concept as collecting memories. This collection is more about collecting and saving things or memories when we were in children’s time. It is more about being playful and naïve. Furthermore, this is the time for playing and insouciance and also this is the time we want to keep in our memories all the time. This collection is aims of sixteen-plus girl who has phsycalliy beeing a women, but mantal being whinsical and creative. It will rebuild this naïve atmosphere to those “wendy girls” and remind their memories of childhood in 2011 Autumn/Winter. The concept behind Rani is the re-invention and preservation of this age-old splendour of the Indian Royal courts. The accessories in this collection will be distinctive heirloom pieces that serve as medium of passing on the legacy of these forgotten customs and traditions down generations. It will provide an opportunity for today’s youth to connect with the extravagant, almost fairy-tale like transcendent world of olden day India.

As a way of inspiring this collection, various tattoo design ideas have been explored while looking at the different cultures. Philippine Island tattoos seem to be part of the biggest focuses relating to knit design itself. Some of the trading products originated from this country were fine fabrics made by women with a variety of materials. Interestingly the same patterns were also found on the Philippine women’s tattooed hands. These tattoos as the fine fabrics details must have been rather delicate and this has been reflected into the collection. The overall idea of this project is to bring to light and to show the tattoo like pattern by transposing the concept into knitted fabric. To create this concept into the shape and silhouette of the garments it is was crucial to keep it fairly simple as the texture will bring most of the slick and elegant look . Tight fitting clothing is to resemble the way the tattoo is being worn on the body (almost like a second skin effect). Looking at some of the Philippine people we can identify a recurring theme of curved lines near the shoulders where it creates a unique effect of clothing seams However taking into account the body tattoo placements there was a lot of playing round with arm holes in the collection garments which relates to tattoo sleeve placements. Among the designs, the knit is see-through to show the skin beneath, ____About Sarah____ Sarah Mazza is a French designer based in Luton. From a young Sarah always wanted to do something creative. Having studied Textiles at A-Level, her passion for the fashion industry and knitwear in particular was born. Noticing a talent in her, her tutor taught her to knit outside of class and from then on she was hooked, taking every possible chance to practice and improve in her spare time. After gaining a place on the prestigious course at LCF, where she explored multiple textile techniques including embroidery and print, she decided to focus purely on her first passion. She love the way in which she can create her own fabric, shape and make it as individual as it can be. She has always liked using unusual materials and prefer to challenge herself by staying away from conventional wool. Sarah’s knit includes feminine and elegant hand crafted knit that is hand dyed and hand stitched together.
