JAMAICAN ME CRAZY'Don't want Jackie, Give dem Paul instead, Dem don't want di sweetness between di leg..' Banton, B . (1992) Boom Bye Bye. Jamacia: Shang Muzick Brogan Toyn’s S/S 2013  graduate collection, ‘Jamaican me Crazy’  contends against frequent homophobic dancehall lyrics, by creating ‘expressive’ street wear for the modern man.  Through the amalgamation of research, aggressive 90’s hip hop trends are combined with the promiscuousness of Jamaica’s dancehall Queens, consequently redefining common contemporary constructions of the male identity in contemporary fashion. Collaborating with textile designer Zoe Sterling, ‘Jamaican Me Crazy’ ignores familiar connotations of masculinity in order to create an unconventional sportswear S/S13 Menswear collection. Juxtaposing common culture with subcultures, Brogan creates clothes for men willing to push image boundaries beyond the norm of the day, instead hyper exaggerating them. Representation of the black gay male in contemporary fashion is relatively absent as patriarchal values still influence the majority. Although, commonly it has been long thought that it is a homosexual customer that consumes outlandish modern menswear trends. Something which has been allegedly underground , emerging in the 80s and 90's and documented in films such as Livingstones 'Paris is burning' is now becoming a trend. Queens. Proportions within ‘Jamaican me Crazy’ remain unbalanced due to the amalgamation of inspirations. Influenced prominently by the provocative outfits of the Jamaican dancehall Queens, the collection rearranges masculine shapes in order to reverse gender restraints. Referencing dancehall contemporaries in hip hop,  Brogan adopts classic street style proportions to conflict with risque silhouettes, crop tops vs. basketball shorts. Focusing heavily on the context of colour within menswear and in order to balance an overtly sexualized concept, a juxtaposition of colour has been enforce. Enhanced pastels compliment the risqué silhouettes as they distract from erotic undertones and encourage the energy of the dancehall. Unconventionally luxurious, Brogan does not use classic performance fabrics. Instead, collaborating with textile designer Zoe Sterling, sequins adorn nearly every look and increase the collections flamboyance. Rainbow furs creep along the edges of garments while tight crotches are emphasized by printed, metallic lurex fabrics. As ‘Jamaican me Crazy’ adopts outlandish street style and contradicts obvious urban aesthetics, sequined crop tops only emphasize this further. The Weekend Collection SS14

BA (Hons) Cordwainers Fashion Bags and Accessories: Product Design and Innovation

The concept focused on the Praesepe star cluster which is one of the closest star clusters to earth and only locates 161 stars. Each product made for the A/W 2013 collection displays a trail line of stars picked from the Praesepe star cluster; each trail selected highlighted a unique path. These were subtly portrayed via the stitching detail exhibited throughout the front body of each item in the range. The range was also designed to communicate a high level of functionality. The 2 main bags of the collection (The Weekend and The Tote) combine 3 products into 1. This idea was influenced by the space shuttles which are sent into our solar system and the way in which they start off as 1 product and are eventually separated into 3. The Weekend bag locates a removable A3 Laptop case and a fold up canvas shopper which can also be used as a clutch. The Tote contains a removable A4 ipad case and card holder. The Brand name ‘Qing’ was inspired by the planet Jupiter, (The King of all planets) The Romans applied this name to the planet as it is the largest planet in our solar system. As the brand would like to be seen as asexual, the name has combined both Female and Masculine nouns- King and Queen to create the trade name Qing. Qing sees past defining or categorizing individuals in order to create a divided society. Qing offers a lifestyle which has no segregation, divisions or outcasts. Qing is sexless and surpasses the classification of male or female. We are one. Cherelle is a Confident and intriguing designer. Always creating and producing captivating ideas. Cherelle executes her ideas to their very best potential. cherelle_b@hotmail.co.uk info@IAMQING.com www.IAMQING.com

BA (Hons) Fashion Design (Part time)

Independent Fashion and Print Textile Designer For more information and contact details: www.davidrossfashion.com https://www.facebook.com/davidrossfashion David’s unusual and strongly individual approach to design is interwoven with his desire to include everyone. ‘Beauty is where you find it’; ‘A beautiful body is one that works’, are references which spring to mind when attempting to appreciate his philosophy. Irish-born David is based in London and studied at London College of Fashion graduating in 2011, where already his distinctive approach to design was apparent in his creations. A love of sculptured tailored and fitted shapes on the one hand and creative cutting techniques on the other inform his work, and although the pieces are boldly constructed they aim to be flattering and feminine. The collection is inspired by the desire to transcend our own physical limitations, and reminds us of our own hidden beauty, our unrealised inner potential. BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Surface Textiles

Final Major collaborative project- Good night little one Good Night Little One is a comprehensive collaborative A/W13 collection created by two textiles students specialising in knitwear and embroidery. The collection’s theme is derived from childhood imagination studied through psychological, sociological and visual expressions. The research explores the naïve innocence of children’s minds and how children transform their thoughts into art. This research is a literal manifestation of such a theme and imagery. It will juxtapose and contrast children’s drawing and childlike modern art to create a four piece unisex collection that focuses on each of the team member’s signature style and love of colour and textures.

Namoi Oman is a young designer inspired by all things Powerful. Namoi Oman's final collection is a refreshing take on 21st century subculture. The A/W 2013 collection is stimulated by the unseen perverse world of secret societies; the mood of the collection mirrors the theme of our shadowed governments. From this, fabrics have been carefully selected to juxtapose and embody the idea of transparency and opaqueness, which symbolizes the things we choose to expose, and the things we choose to cover up. The excessive, rebellious attitude of the collection stems from the British subculture of Punk, the dark colour pallet represents this. The body is only comfortable if the mind confirms this. Namoi Oman designs each garment to ensure the mind feels powerful which in turn makes the woman exude power. Through my work, I like to create clothing that tells a story of a character. I am a massive film lover and am excited by how costumes within films help to create interest and intrigue about a character. My final year collection is all about illustrating a story and identity of a character through the clothes!

Carved Walnut Glasses by KAT, Photography: Hill & Aubrey, Model: Amber at Select

BA (Hons) Fashion Jewellery

Katharine Anne Taylor, ‘KAT’, graduated from London College of Fashion with a BA(Hons) in Fashion Jewellery. To compliment her studies, KAT gained experience in jewellery and accessory design and production in both jewellery and fashion design studios. From ethical contemporary silversmith Ute Decker to Vivienne Westwood and Holly Fulton. KAT’s efforts to explore craft and responsible design and production have been combined with studies in to human form, ergonomics and sentimentalism to create a variety of statement fashion accessories. The current collection ‘Twisted’ explores luxurious, bespoke accessories. “Luxury is comfort. To me, comfort comes from quality materials, fit and an emotional connection with an object, something that is catered for in bespoke design.” ‘Craftech’; the development of craft with digital processes, is used to mimic hand forged hot metal work forms into different materials. Using the traditional blacksmithing technique of twisting, KAT develops forms on 3D software such as Rhino to create files for CNC machining. Using soft, warm English Walnut wood creates striking frames that are light and comfortable. The pieces celebrate and accentuate fluid curves and twisting forms. The combination of Walnut and Brass detailing reflects KAT’s appreciation of traditional products, but the use of digital processes transform the materials into eye catching contemporary pieces. Continuing the development of her accessories for the designer market, KAT is concentrating on materials and local manufacturing research to inform her support of British Fashion production. As well as her own projects and commissions, KAT is seeking collaborative projects within the jewellery, accessories and eyewear industries. info@katharineannetaylor.com http://uk.linkedin.com/pub/katharine-anne-taylor/42/205/307/ http://my.lcffirstmove.co.uk/graduates/7819 PRESS http://www.vogue.co.uk/fashion/spring-summer-2014/ready-to-wear/london-college-of-fashion-ba/full-length-photos/gallery/1004104 http://www.fashion156.com/daily-blog/london-college-of-fashion-class-of-2013-catwalk-show/ CREDITS LCF Press Runway Collaboration 2013 Eyewear by Katharine Anne Taylor Menswear tailoring by Andreas Kristoffer Feet-Martinsen Bags & Belts by Stevan Saville Photography by James Rees Creative Direction, Rob Phillips Beauty, Pace Chen Model, Luke Walker at AMCK Models PROJECTS Fashion Jewellery design for Save the Children Charity, 'Born to Shine' Campaign http://www.ecouterre.com/london-fashion-students-turn-silly-bandz-into-bespoke-jewelry-for-save-the-children/ http://www.handbag.com/fashion/news/a424412/london-college-of-fashion-teams-up-with-save-the-children.html http://housepr.com/london-college-of-fashion-creates-bespoke-‘born-to-shine’-jewellery-with-save-the-children/ BLOGS http://blogs.arts.ac.uk/fashion/2012/04/12/jewellery-designer-featured-in-fashion-film/
