Final Shoe(Project3)

FdA Cordwainers Footwear Design

The inspiration for my works lies in the future, the future of mankind and future of our planet. The unpredictable nature of the future and the fear of the unknown fascinates me and is reflected in my work. Humor and drama plays an important role in story telling and I love the idea of storytelling through my shoes as i build u stories around my shoes and create fictional characters . The first project derives its inspiration from the evolution of human beings into hybrids of technology.A mix of machine and technology.(The Brief was to design a range of shoes for a brand or label you most admire. I chose Viktor and rolf and designed a range of shoes keeping in mine their brand philosophy). The second project based in the future also is a fusion of modern architecture and Indo-islamic architecture. For this project i used futuristic shapes with materials like marble used in islamic buildings as heels for the shoes. The shoes are based around a fictional story of two lover and their journey through time. The Third project is aslo based in the future but deals with a time where the world is about to end.The people are surviving on very little resources and everyday is a struggle. The people have become more like warriors .This project was done keeping in mind a science-fiction post apocalyptic movie based in the future. In summation my work is driven by drama ,fantasy, humor and assumptions on how the future will be like for the humanity. I see my work being used in futuristic shoots, Tv series based in future and Science fiction movie.

Alasdair Leighton-Crawford Video Résumé

BA (Hons) Active Sportswear

With experience as a former international athlete, avid backcountry enthusiast, tailor and now emerging sportswear designer, I continue to further my interest and exploration within the fields of performance apparel through integrating smart technologies and advancements in hybrid textiles, which are enabling athletes to push the boundaries of human performance and safety. COLLECTION To this extend my collection encapsulates my passion and experience. Encompassing the arena of the modern athlete within cities and their fight between the artificial and natural environment. DESIGN From my unique viewpoint, I am particularly interested in designing with a more holistic approach. Engaging with specialists and experts within the realms of science, design and technology. Thereby challenging what we think of and demand of our clothes now, and in the future. TECHNOLOGY Technological advancement in clothing design, fabrication and textiles remains at the forefront of future fashion. “Smart textiles” represent the natural step in advancing what we demand from our clothes, whether it be a heighten awareness of our environment, or benefit to our health and wellbeing. OUR PLANET I love design, but I am also in tune with its potential destructive tendencies that are at odds with the natural environment. To that extent I am focussed on making a difference and positive changes, that do not impact negatively upon our planet. I believe strongly that my combined experiences enable me to make a positive, unique contribution to our industry, and I hope that through my passion and persistence that this is able to forge a sustainable impact. Studying design at LCF has been without doubt a beneficial opportunity for me to learn and get a strong and realistic grounding in what is required to become a good designer. This I feel will put me in a excellent position to continue to develop and evolve in my particular spheres of interest, as I pursue my career objectives.

MAXXI J 2013 ㅣMasquerade collection l cha.xxi graphic design l

BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Menswear

The masquerade collection attempts to embody hidden thoughts, desires and imagination of subject with vague identities. With the day to day wear engraved in one’s body, the person becomes an active subject. Indeed, the persona performance loosens the boundaries of hidden identity and representation; hence the limited identity becomes a coming into being. It is a significant gesture for the liberation from sex, ethnic, and religions as well as ideological diversity, and more importantly it affirms a human being living in a current multi-cultural society. BA (Hons) Bespoke Tailoring

Lucy Seabrook’s graduate collection is made entirely from the use of bespoke tailoring techniques. The craftsmanship of the pieces has brought a luxury element through to her menswear and womenswear designs. Her aim is to fill the gap between traditional tailors and high-end fashion houses. The collection has a British heritage aesthetic; all fabrics used were sourced from UK mills. The initial concept was developed from the idea of criminal attire. The design aesthetic was approached in a way that was current, drawing upon historic garments and fashions such as the items worn in the 1920’s mug shots. Specific interest was taken to the individual characters in the portraits and the story’s told alone by the clothing worn. Modern forms of criminal attire were introduced such as jumpsuits and prison wear. The aim of these was to make the subject loose their individuality, the clothing is loose fitted, unified with minimal style or design influences, creating clothing with little association. The luxury tailored designs were created from these basic, uncluttered garments and detailed with the collaged outfits and details of the 1920’s mug shots. The emphasis on minimalism throughout the collection showcased the cut and detailing of the traditional tailoring techniques. A Belgium painter and filmmaker, Michael Borremans, inspired the colours introduced through the collection. His paintings and films present an evocative combination of solemn - looking characters, unusual close-up’s and unsettling still life’s. Using these characters and colour palette used by Borreman they contrast the criminal attire and the dark shadows and silhouettes and juxtaposing these silhouettes with the colour palette brought through. Along side this collection printed rage of tailored pieces were created. These brought together the strong shadow silhouettes and solemn pastel colours in an abstract print following the form of the figure and dropping from the shoulders. The print was created on wool suiting using a hand silk screen-printing method. BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Menswear

The idea of understated luxury encapsulates the spring-summer 2014 collection with simple yet beautiful tailored shapes and the conjunction of fine feminine fabrics and hand embroideries. These unique, truly androgynous hand worked pieces are perfectly set off by the predominantly neutral palette of ivory and nude tones broken up with flashes of gold and the careful use of black to underpin the more masculine side of the collection. The classic sharply tailored shapes with the occasional injection of harder biker silhouette showcase the masculine edge of the collection. The use of traditional menswear fabrics like wool barrathea married with feminine laces and organzas highlight the finely judged balance of femininity and masculinity to create fashion for a ‘third gender’. Frozen Flower_ cover

BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Surface Textiles

'My body is where your shameful crime and freedom of my mind is fighting' (The Murmuring, 1995) The collection is about Comfort Women whom were forced into a sexual slavery during the Second World War. The attention toward the issue of comfort women, started with a documentary called The Murmuring published in 1995. Title of the A/W 2013 collection ' Frozen Flower' is a metaphorical meaning of Comfort Women as flower and their youth and time being stopped from the day they became Comfort Women. Pure and Innocence are two words represent an atmosphere of the collection. The inspirations are from two different sides of comfort women, bravery and strong will they have but unstable and fragile inner mind. Special thanks to Saga for sponsoring furs for the collection. contact* d-kim@hotmail.co.uk for any enquiries.
