BA (Hons) Fashion Jewellery

London based jewellery designer Hue Tawn Chan graduated from London College of Fashion (2013) with degree in BA (Hons) in Fashion Jewellery. Fascinated by the idea of interlinking and interweaving to create intricate and creative designs have inspired the concept of knots. The design intentions for this project is to challenge and prove the conventional technique of knotting can become contemporary and innovative to the fashion industry. Learning the skill of Chinese knotting and macramé with research from Celtic knot designs, these three elements became the main themes of the collection. All pieces in the collection are hand made, ranging from shape forming, polishing, macramé and dip dying, with a silver plated finish. The collection consists of metal knots that feature twists and turns, each side of the design have been carefully considered, with a surface contrast of satin and mirrored finish. Allowing light to bounce off differently on each surface and create a more 3-dimensional effect. In addition, dip dyed cord have been knotted into the pieces to give a contrast in materials. BA (Hons) Fashion: Design & Technology (Top Up)

My passion for tailoring has to do with the construction and the making process; to see a 2D development turn into 3D and be able to understand how it was done. When designing, my main focus lies in function and practicality, I want my garments to have a purpose that goes beyond being aesthetically pleasing. I tend to be very minimalistic with my designs which I believe comes from my Scandinavian culture. When finishing I would like to pursue a career within costume for theater and film as a part of the making team, however, I am looking forward to any challenge within any fashion related industry I come across.

esa: Geometric Print

BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Surface Textiles

Graphic illustrations concentrating on intricate pen detail in the form of surrealistic environments, using animals and nature forms as the main source of inspiration. Even though my illustrations are primarily black and white, colour composition is the strongest element of my work, particularly shown when i use my drawings to design vivid and graphic prints. Surprisingly, knitwear is my specialism, as this means I can use colour to it's full potential to create overly textured and colourfully embroidered knitwear samples.
