Could this space be a place of visual pleasure and emotional significance. Cate is a short but intense person whose research is aimed to the creation of clothes. Cate is one who loves sharing with others and has fun when she works. Cate has a background in Graphic Design and Acting, and for some mysterious reason the sum of the two brought Cate here. Probably, here is were Cate was meant to be from the very beginning. Or maybe not.

‘Work like a slave, command like a king, create like a God’. These words, which I heard during my very first fashion lecture, perfectly describe my attitude to the fashion world. Fashion design is my life passion, which I have always been committed to and prepared to work hard on developing. Already during my first degree at London College of Fashion, I tried to be a part of the fashion industry by undertaking a number of internships: at Richard Nicoll, James Long, Maciej Zien and Guess by Marciano. That work experience not only enriched me with practical skills of sawing, designing and pattern cutting, but also gave me an opportunity to understand the process of production. My true dream, that I am aiming to achieve, is to be noticeably unique and stand out from the crowd. Because I never give up and work hard, I think that it is possible to overcome any upcoming obstacles on a pathway of a young fashion designer such as myself. Moreover, I am additionally motivated to learn about the fashion, since this type of visual art inspires me in everyday life and can provide with a special emotional insight. As Levinson notes, “art gives viewers experiential knowledge [...] and it does this by broadening experience to encompass things they might never otherwise have undergone or felt.” WORK EXPERIENCE Present Fashion intern at Richard Nicoll Present Stylish at 69 Polish Tv (Poland) August – September Fashion intern at Maciej Zień atelier (Polish designer) August Fashion intern at James Long 03rd June 2012 VolunteerAsian Fashion Show (London) June – December 2011 Main designer for Bodu Bacio – fashion brand in Poland August 2011 Assistant to the Senior designer at Guess by Maricano

My original inspiration came from Commedia dell'arte, which was a form of Italian masked theatre in the 16th century, and the characters portrayed in these stories, such as Pierrot and Harlequin (which are now precursors to the modern day clown) which have been depicted in reknown paintings by Picasso and Juan Gris. I loved the bright textures, striking shapes and emphatic textures (which I developed and incorporated into my pieces by the use of smocking) present in the Commedia dell'arte and wanted to modernise the characters through my collection, as well as add a bit of my own culture and memories through the incorporation of Thai garland flowers in the accessories which share a similar type of brightness and colourfulness. BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Surface Textiles

I am a fashion print designer, currently exploring her obsession with light and colour. In my current collection I am working in collaboration with Menswear designer Adrien Chen in the creation of a fun and playful collection inspired by dance music, the nightclub setting and the emotions of the dance floor. I develop my work through experimentation with process, including projections, darkroom and a living in the print room. For this collection I have striped down my explorations to the basic colour principals of CMYK in order to explore how layers of different scales of halftone's can produce a diverse range of prints. Taking principals from divisionism you can see how colours can be produced by this simple formula. I see this as just the begining of my explorions into this theme and envisage the development of this for years to come.
